The America’s Cup is the most prestigious sailing competition in the world. It is held every four years and brings together the best teams in the world in an exciting regatta for the title of “Defender of the Cup.”
The most important sailing competition in the world will be held in Barcelona from August 29 to October 20, 2024. The defending champion is Emirates Team New Zealand, which won the 2021 edition in Auckland, New Zealand.
The official opening ceremony of the 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Barcelona will be held in Barcelona on August 22, 2024.

This new edition of the America’s Cup is approaching and the dates of its preliminary rounds are already known. The Final Preliminary Regatta will be held, as well as the Challenger Selection Series, also known as the Louis Vuitton Cup, which will be held from August 29 to October 7, 2024.
The top four teams from this phase will face the defending champion, Emirates Team New Zealand, in the final or Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Match, which will be held from October 12 to 20, 2024.
In June 2023, all teams set up their bases and are training in Barcelona.

NYYC American Magic History
NYYC American Magic team is founded in 2018. The team is led by Terry Hutchinson, an American sailor with a long history in the America’s Cup.
The team first competed in the America’s Cup in 2021, in Auckland, New Zealand. The team qualified for the finals, where they lost to Emirates Team New Zealand.
For the 2024 America’s Cup, NYYC American Magic team has signed some of the best American sailors, including Paul Goodison, Michael Menninger, and Riley Gibbs.
Trials and Rankings
The preliminary trials for the 37th America’s Cup, held in Vilanova i la Geltrú from September 15-17, 2023, were a resounding success for NYYC American Magic team.
The participating teams offered an exciting and competitive spectacle.
The final classification of the trials was as follows:

The preliminary trials for the 37th America’s Cup were held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from November 30 to December 3, 2023, and confirmed the good form of NYYC American Magic team.
The final classification of the competition was as follows:

- Emirates Team New Zealand (New Zealand)
- Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli (Italy)
- INEOS Britannia (United Kingdom)
- Alinghi Red Bull Racing (Switzerland)
- Stars + Stripes Team USA (United States)
In the preliminary trials for the 37th America’s Cup, held in Vilanova i la Geltrú and Jeddah, American Magic and Emirates Team New Zealand took the top two positions. However, American Magic was more dominant in Vilanova i la Geltrú, where they won three of the four races contested.
Orient Express Racing Team surprised by finishing in third place in Vilanova i la Geltrú, while Alinghi Red Bull Racing was the worst team in both trials.
The six participating teams showed that they are ready to offer an exciting and competitive show in the 37th America’s Cup, which will be held in Barcelona in 2024.

The goal of the NYYC American Magic Women’s Team is to win the Women’s America’s Cup. The team has a solid project and an experienced crew, so it cannot be ruled out that they can achieve their goal.
American Magic Youth Team
The NYYC American Magic youth team, composed of some of the best young sailors in the world, will participate in the 37th America’s Cup, to be held in Barcelona in 2024. This will be the first time that a youth category has been contested in the competition.

Team Vessel
NYYC American Magic has an AC75 racing boat, which is the boat model used in the America’s Cup since 2021. The American team’s boat is called “Defiant” and was built by North Sails shipyard in Portsmouth, Rhode Island.
The AC75 is a monohull boat with foils, which means it can rise above the water to reach very high speeds. The boat is 23.4 meters long and weighs 7,500 kilograms.
