Catvents collaborates with different Alzheimer’s aid associations in a charitable and selfless way, and the result of these boat trips is very satisfactory. In this publication we explain more about this topic.
These days we have had the pleasure of taking different boat trips along the coast of Barcelona in which both Alzheimer’s sufferers, caregivers and family members, relaxed and enjoyed the Mediterranean Sea and the views of Barcelona from the sea.
The organizations with which we collaborate carry out an extraordinary work for the direct social environment of Alzheimer’s. These projects, in relation to maritime activities, have different axes and services: activities for caregivers and family members, activities for those affected and their families, and activities for those affected. Regarding services, they offer training, prevention and support for families, caregivers and those affected.
After the success of the outings carried out in recent days, we are already thinking about the following ones. We have collaborated on six boat trips with twenty-five participants per trip, a total of one hundred and fifty people. Making this world a better place is the work and effort of all people. Our commitment is firm.
We encourage you to collaborate with these entities that are so beneficial to our society, family members and people affected by Alzheimer’s or other dementias.
Solidarity and sustainable actions: a priority at Catvents
At Catvents we collaborate in solidarity with different associations, such as Veles per l’Alzheimer (candles for alzheimer), a non-profit association that promotes activities related to the sea for Alzheimer’s sufferers, family members and caregivers, with the ultimate goal of contributing to improving their quality of life.
Another association with which we collaborate is AfAB (Barcelona Association of Relatives with Alzheimer’s and other dementias), which also does excellent work. They organize activities to keep people affected by Alzheimer’s active. They offer accompaniment and reception services for the family of affected people, and specialized advice to the people who are in charge of their care. For those affected, they carry out individual cognitive stimulation workshops and also launch prevention campaigns for brain health.
Our solidarity also reaches ACE (ACE Foundation, Alzheimer Center Barcelona). Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona is a non-profit organization at the service of families and people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. They help with different activities: diagnosis, treatment, research, training and awareness.
The Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera has organized, together with the Veles Association for Alzheimer’s, the 1st Regatta for Alzheimer’s held on Wednesday morning, March 22. A hundred people have participated, including participants and family members of the Foundation’s Memory and Health Reinforcement and Stimulation Program, professionals from the program and patrons of the entity. This regatta is the first worldwide in which the participants are people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
We also collaborate with Alzheimer Catalunya, whose foundation ensures the quality of life of people affected by dementia through aid and protection programs, affected and family, and training and consultancy.
Lastly, we would like to mention and greet our friends, users and family members of the l’Onada La Bordeta Mossèn Vidal i Aunós residence in Barcelona. We send you a big hug!
We remind you that at Catvents, we are very aware of the environment and carry out sustainable actions in reference to our activities, all to reduce the carbon footprint. For this reason, we have the Biosphere certificate and every day we strive to protect the planet and the maritime environment.
Caregivers and family members united against Alzheimer’s
It is important that family members and caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients stand together as this disease challenges everyone involved. Alzheimer’s, and other dementias, are progressive and degenerative diseases that affect not only patients, but also their loved ones and caregivers.
Dementia affects the patient’s ability to perform daily activities and communicate, which can place an emotional and physical burden on caregivers. The disease can be difficult to understand and manage for those who are not familiar with it.
If family members and caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients work together and are united, they can provide a greater level of emotional and physical support to the patient. They can also share information and resources that help them deal with the daily challenges of the disease. Sticking together can help avoid environmental conflicts when patient care is shared among multiple family members.
The union and collaboration between caregivers and the family must be essential to provide the best possible care to the patient with Alzheimer’s and to ensure that care is as effective and sustainable as possible.

Patients and family on a boat trip in Barcelona
What better way to relax and enjoy the sea than with a boat trip in Barcelona. Enjoying, discovering new sensations and getting to see different animals in their environment is a unique experience. We leave you the main benefits of doing this activity.
Sensory stimulation
A boat trip provides a unique sensory experience and helps stimulate the patient’s brain and improve their mood. The sound of the water, the sea breeze, the sun and the colors of the landscape can be beneficial for the general well-being of the patient.
Strengthening of the relationship
It’s a fun and meaningful activity for the family that can help strengthen personal relationships and provide a moment of joy and connection. The shared experience can also help create positive memories together, which can help offset the negative effects of the disease, and adds value to the Alzheimer’s patient.

Reducing anxiety and stress in Alzheimer’s patients: the main benefit of sailing at sea
Anxiety and stress are common in Alzheimer’s patients, as the disease can be frightening and disorienting for them. They may feel frustrated and confused when trying to perform simple everyday tasks. This disease can worsen the patient’s memory and communication skills.
When an Alzheimer’s patient navigates the sea, they experience a relaxing experience that can help reduce their level of stress and anxiety. The movement of the boat and the sound of the water can have a calming effect on the patient’s brain and provide a pleasant sensory experience. The natural environment of the sea can help reduce the stress level of the patient.
This reduction in stress and anxiety can generate several benefits for the Alzheimer’s patient: a better quality of life, a greater ability to carry out activities of daily living and an improvement in their general state of mind. It can also help reduce the emotional and physical burden on the patient’s caregivers and family, which is very important in situations where patient care is shared among multiple family members.
Sailing the sea can be a therapeutic experience for an Alzheimer’s patient, providing a moment of calm and reducing anxiety and stress.
